English Heritage's Historic Properties Board (known as the Properties in Care Strategy Board until 1993) had responsibility for advising the Commission on the exercise of its functions under the National Heritage Act 1983 as they relate to the historic properties in its care. Issues on which it provided advice included major strategic issues related to the management and maintenance of the historic properties estate; the acquisition, guardianship, disposal or alternative management of historic properties; marketing, education and income-generation issues; projects for major works to the historic properties estate; major acquisitions of objects, paintings, furniture etc. for the historic collections and charges and admission prices. In 1999 the board was disbanded and replaced by the Historic Properties Executive Committee.
