Captured ship: African of Emden (Michael Chalopin Master).
History: an African and American Company of Brandenburg merchant ship (158 tons, with crew from the Netherlands, France and Spain, including 6 soldiers), bound from St Thomas [Danish West Indies] to Emden, laden with cotton, indigo, sugar and a small amount of specie for the company's account; taken or seized on 1/11 March 1693, off Plymouth by the privateer Rook Frigott (John Mitchell commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
