Captured ship: Stadt Copenhagen or Town of Copenhagen or Ville de Copenhagen or Ciudad de Copenhagen (master Pieter Eylander).
History: a Danish ship bound from Amsterdam to San Sebastian laden with cloth, wheat, beans, boards; taken in July 1691 by the privateers Elizabeth and Katherine (William Young commanding) and Postilion (Henry Martin commanding) and brought into Dover.
Documents: a large volume of 572 folios of evidence in support of merchants' and owners' claims, bound at the time: interrogatories on behalf of Young and Martin, commissions, examinations and depositions in Amsterdam and elsewhere with supporting evidence (bills of lading, letters, details of previous voyages) into the many claims to the ship and cargo; information from San Sebastian about spice, incense and colour trade.
