Administrative / biographical background

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) was set up on 1 April 2000 as an office of HM Treasury overseen by a supervisory board of ministers and officials from government departments. The aim of the OGC was to achieve the best value for money for the government's commercial relationships and coherence of purchasing activity across departments, non-governmental bodies and agencies.

On 15 June 2010 it moved to become part of the Efficiency and Reform Group within Cabinet Office.
