Artemi Georgievitch GUBANOFF alias GOUBANOFF: Russian. He arrived in the UK in 1923 with his wife as part of the Anglo Russian Trade Agreement to take up the post of director in a Soviet import company in London. In 1926 his wife Anna was working as a secretary at the Bank for Russian Trade. Both were reported to be trusted communists. Anna was suspected of being a GPU (Soviet Intelligence) agent.
