Georg LUKACS alias Gyorgy LUKACS. Hungarian. A communist philosopher and academic in Hungary, Austria and Germany in the 1920s and 1930s, LUKACS was actively involved with the communist World Peace Council in the 1950s. In 1956 he was Minister of Culture in the short-lived Nagy government. He survived the consequent purges, was deported but allowed to return in 1957. With photographs
