Printed prize appeal from the Vice-Admiralty Court of Tortola.
Captured ship: Charles (master Richard Stiles).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Havana to St Thomas, laden with sugar, beeswax and some 'segars' [cigars]; taken on 9 May 1805 by HMS L'Epervier (John Impey commanding) and HMS Circe (Jonas Rose commanding), and brought into Tortola.
Appellant: The master for the ship and cargo on behalf of himself and Messrs Pratt and Larkson of Philadelphia, American citizens.
Respondent: The captors and HMPG.
Bound printed appeal with manuscript decree of 30 November 1808 (folios 133-143).
Decision: two-thirds of goods claimed to be restored, the remaining third condemned as lawful prize of the captors.
