Description

Folios 94-111. Papers relating to the rights and privileges of the Royal Africa Company, comprising: a memorial from the Court of the Company to the Earl of Holderness [Secretary of State for the Southern Department] about disputes with France over settling and trading on the River Gambia (West Africa); and copies of previous memorials of 1727 (2), 1733 and 1749, describing the history of the Company's rights and of other precedents in relation to the Africa trade and to other areas of trade contested by other nations since the fifteenth century.
