Description

Envelope, typed 'I, [Nos] 721 to 735' [Caledonian Railway Dunalastair I [one] 4-4-0 locomotive Class], containing four cuttings and one postcard:

Cuttings, monochrome photographic illustrations:

1) ['The Railway Magazine', May 1912 page 429], side three-quarter view, 'Oil-Burning Locomotive', [No 724].

2) ['The Railway Magazine', May 1901, page 465], front three-quarter view, 'No 723, the ... locomotive that drew the Royal Train, named 'Victoria' after her late Majesty'.

3) Unidentified, undated publication [c 1912], side three-quarter view, 'No 724 fitted for burning oil fuel'.

4) ['The Railway Magazine', August 1908, page 332], front three-quarter view, 'Perth train at Alyth Junction, No 724 'Jubilee''.

5) Postcard, 9 cm x 14 cm, coloured illustration [painting based on photograph], 'Caledonian Express', [front three-quarter view locomotive No 733 and train], 'Valentine's Series', undated [c 1905].
