Folio 219: Captain J. Lapthorne, the Mercury, the Downes. Had orders to sail to the coast of France. In coming back, bad weather caused the main yard to break and the lug sail to split. The sail will be patched up. Has a piece of timber from Mr. Stock for the Carpenter to work on for a main yard. Is not contracted to any port and the vessel is in much need of repair. Her standing rigging is very bad and there are other deficiencies. The Boatswain has received the provisions sent from Mr. Stock, to whom he has delivered the ship's books.
