Description (What the record is about)

Folio 216: Captain Leader, the Chatham, the Downes. Has orders to proceed to the Nore and has a Pilot on board. Has neither longboat nor pinnace and all the suitable boats in Deal are taken up for the great ships. Has sent his Lieutenant to Mr. Wyvell at Dover to get a boat there, otherwise the Pilot will not take charge of the ship. The muster books are about 12 months behind. On the last voyage, there was no muster paper to be had, not even supplies at Cadiz.
