Philip Carteret Webb to Duke of Newcastle concerning rebel [Jacobite] prisoners at Carlisle Castle [Cumberland], chosen by lot, raising concerns about mistreatment, and possible escape, mentioning Brigadier General Fleming and Colonel Howard, and recommending speedy execution of those convicted. Also corrects information about Andrew Swan on a list of the prisoners sent to the Duke on 27 September 1746 [SP 36/87/2/53, list of prisoners tried, from 17 September 1746].
