Folio 57. Affidavit in favour of Andrew Johnston, [Jacobite] prisoner at Carlisle [Cumberland], aged about 20, son of James Johnston of Knockhill [Fife?], sworn by William Irvin the Younger of Norwood, [signs Willeam Irveng]. States that Johnston had enlisted in the 'Regiment of Scots Gray Dragoons', but that his father made him return enlistment money, and 'by threats and menaces of the strongest kind' forced him to join the rebels. Dated at Carlisle Court [Cumberland].
