Folio 72. Sir Henry Hoghton to [Newcastle]. Asking for directions concerning Mr Douglas (or Mordington), a Peer. Committed several men for involvement in [Jacobite] rebellion. Dated at Preston [Lancashire]. Enclosures:
1. Folio 73. Information of Thomas Fowler, husbandman from Cuerden, Lancashire. On 15 December 1745, saw Mr Douglas with rebels [Jacobites] at Manchester [Lancashire], wearing a white cockade. Took Douglas to visit Thomas Green, neighbour in Fishwick [Preston]. Taken before Sir Henry Hoghton. Dated at Lancashire.
2. Folio 74. Information of Henry Hall, miller from Walton-le-Dale [Lancashire]. On 11 December 1745, saw Charles Douglas ('who says he is Lord Mordington') wearing a white cockade and marching with rebels to Preston. Taken before Sir Henry Hoghton. Dated at Lancashire.
