Folios 30-31. John Waugh to [Newcastle]. Dated at York [Yorkshire]. With copy of intelligence from Lamb. Delivered letters to General Oglethorpe at Orton [Westmorland]. Duke of Cumberland pursued 300 rebels [Jacobites] through Lowther Park [Westmorland]. Account of skirmish on Clifton Moor [Westmorland]; four rebels were killed, seven of Cumberland's men dead and 13 wounded, including Colonel Philip Honywood. 70 prisoners taken to Appleby [Westmorland]. Dated at Brough [Westmorland], 21-22 December 1745. With copy of intelligence from 'Tradesman (a Quaker)'. Account of rebel encounter at Lowther hall and Clifton Moor skirmish. Wet weather will stop rebels crossing swollen river Esk into Scotland. About 60 rebels have been taken prisoner. Dated at Penrith [Cumberland], 9 December 1745 [misdated, should be 19 December].
