Memorandum concerning 'The list of Peers' [see SP 35/19/71, SP 35/19/72 and SP 35/19/73]. The practice of selecting peers and appointing members to the House of Commons started by King Henry VIII and carried forward by his successors has increased to such a point that the practice has been taken over by ministers to overturn the methods of their predecessor which is causing an ill effect in the House of Commons.
No end in sight is anticipated unless the Kings offer for a limitation on this practice is established, which will protect the standing of his subjects.
