Description

Prisoner name: William Jee (or William Gee).

Court and date of trial: Warwick Lent Assizes, March 1816.

Crime: Burglary.

Initial sentence: Insane.

Annotated (Outcome): Warrant prepared for removal to Duddeston House Lunatic Asylum near Birmingham, 28 December 1836.

Petitioner(s): William Wright of Kersley, Coventry, farmer, executor of will of Samuel Jee of Bulkington, Warwickshire, yeoman, deceased, the lunatic's father.

Grounds for clemency (Petition Details): Requests transfer of lunatic to Duddeston House asylum near Birmingham.

Other papers: Three letters from Thomas James Philip Burman, proprietor of lunatic asylum at Henley in Arden, Warwickshire, requesting removal of the violent and dangerous lunatic and payment of outstanding fees, with copy of warrant for removal to his asylum. Letter from William Wright, Kersley, concerning payment of fees. Copy letter from Thomas Lewis, Duddeston Hall asylum, concerning payment of fees. Two covering letters for petition from Carter and Dewes, Coventry. Letter from Berrow L Freer, proprietor of Duddeston Hall lunatic asylum, informing of death of William Jee.

Additional Information: Prisoner held first in lunatic asylum in Wigston, Leicestershire, then in Henley in Arden, finally in Duddeston Hall Asylum.
