Description

Booklet, 'The Tramways of the West of England', by P W Gentry, 1952, 139 pages, with fold-out maps of 'Bristol Tramways [and] Carriage [Company]', 'Plymouth Corporation Tramways', also covering Bath, Cambourne [and] Redruth, Cheltenham, Exeter, Gloucester, Lynton and Lynmouth, Swindon, Taunton, Torquay, Weston-super-Mare, and Worcester. (a) Envelope, unmarked, attached to rear inside cover of booklet, containing:

  • 1) Cutting, mounted, typed 'ex Weston [super] Mare 'Mercury' 25 [January] 1963', statistics of miles run by Weston-super-Mare trams in 1912.
  • Three monochrome photographs of Weston-super-Mare trams:
  • 2) 9cm x 14cm, typed note on reverse 'Weston-super-Mare Electric Tramways, Cars at the Old Pier terminus; just below the Prince Consort Gardens, photograph by Jack Burrell, via Michael Farr, 1963'.
  • 3) 9cm x 14cm, manuscript note on reverse ''Lest We Forget' crossing the Beach Lawns, 30 August 1933'.
  • 4) 8cm x 13cm, showing result of collision between tramcar and motor car, manuscript note on reverse, 'Summer 1935'.
  • Two postcards, 9cm x 14cm, coloured street scenes of Taunton [c 1910]:
  • 5) 'Fore Street', typed note on reverse, 'View looking towards depot, donor M Windeatt'.
  • 6) 'East Reach', typed note on reverse, 'Looking towards depot, donor M Windeatt'.
