Jonas KIMCHE, alias Jon: Swiss. A member from the early 1930s of the left wing Independent Labour Party, KIMCHE was the manager of the Socialist Bookshop in London and in 1941 was used by the Special Operations Executive (SOE) for a single mission in Europe. He was later military correspondent of the 'Evening Standard' and the 'Sunday Times' and wrote for the 'Observer' using the name Liberator and for 'Tribune', of which he was Editor in 1946-1948. He was subsequently a freelance correspondent specializing in the Middle East, particularly Jewish affairs
