Description

Captured ship: Der Printz Wilhelm otherwise Le Prince Guillaume (master Hinrich Geffkens).

History: a Hamburg ship (150 tons, 8 men and a boy), bound from Brest to Hamburg, laden with sugar, coffee, tea, gum, elephant's teeth, redwood and china; taken on 1/12 June 1747 between Dover and Dungeness by the privateer Prosperous (Soloman Courrier commanding), and brought into Dover.

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master;
  • [CP 7]: allegation;
  • [CP 8-CP 32]: 18 sets of attestations, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of Hamburg, Nurnburg, Geneva and Amsterdam;
  • [CP 33-CP 35]: attestation as to papers, and two sets of abstracts and translations of the 49 ship's papers [all these papers were restored except no 11].

Ship’s Paper numbered SP 11.
