Description

Captured ship: Nuestra Señora de Misericordia or La Vierge de la Misericorde of Martinique (master Jacques Laurent).

History: a French ship carrying Spanish goods (70 tons, 12 men), bound from Seville to Lisbon, laden with lemons, olives and biscuits; taken on 9/20 February 1741 off Cape Vincent by the privateers Young Eagle (Philip Dumaresq commanding) and Vernon (George Willis commanding), and brought into the River Thames.

  • [CP 1]: attestation as to the perishing nature of the cargo;
  • [CP 2]: claim of Sebastian Bolasco of Genoa, brought into court 21 April 1741;
  • [CP 3-CP 4]: commission of appraisement, appraisement, brought into court 30 April 1741;
  • [CP 5-CP 7]: two further sets of claims from Genoese merchants, one translation, docket, brought into court May–-July 1741;
  • [CP 8-CP 10]: attestation as to papers, three separate translations of the ship's papers.
