Description

Captured ship: Einigkeit of Hamburg (master Johan Struckman or Struckmann).

History: a Hamburg merchant ship (200 fats, 13 men), bound from Bordeaux to Hamburg, laden with wine, brandy, sugar and coffee; taken on 29 July/17 August 1747 by the privateer Culloden (Abraham Boxell commanding), and brought into the Downs.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 5]: standing interrogatories, three examinations taken at Deal, commissioners' affidavit;
  • [CP 6]: attestation and claim of the master, August 1747;
  • [CP 7-CP 25]: sets of attestations, copy bills of lading, affidavits and translations taken and sealed by the ruling authorities of the following places on behalf of the claims of their merchants, and brought into court in 16 October 1747. These refer to the number of the original bills of lading as listed in [CP 26 and CP 29], as follows:-
    • [CP 7]: no 1, of Ivenack;
    • [CP 8]: no 2 and others, of Hamburg, written in this order - 26, 14, 19, 4, 5, 38, 18, 7, 11, 15, 20, 6, 16, 17, 28, 13, 29 and 2;
    • [CP 9]: no 3, of Hamburg;
    • [CP 10]: no 8, of Breslau;
    • [CP 11]: no 9, of Breslau;
    • [CP 12]: no 10, of Altona;
    • [CP 13]: no 21, of Frankfurt;
    • [CP 14]: no 22, of Leipzig;
    • [CP 15]: no 23, Breslau
    • [CP 16]: no 24, of Leipzig;
    • [CP 17]: no 25 and 35, of Leipzig;
    • [CP 18]: no 27, of Breslau
    • [CP 19]: no 30, of Magdeburg;
    • [CP 20]: no 31 and 33, of Altona;
    • [CP 21]: no 32, of Lubeck;
    • [CP 22]: no 34, of Leipzig;
    • [CP 23]: no 36, of Altona;
    • [CP 24]: no 37, of Leipzig;
    • [CP 25]: no 39, of Leipzig.
  • [CP 26]: schedule of goods 1: to be restored as fully proved to be neutral property, in order as [CP 7-CP 25];
  • [CP 27]: schedule of goods 2: to be condemned as not so proved;
  • [CP 28-CP 29]: attestation as to papers, and abstract and translation of the 77 ship's papers [most of these papers were restored].

Ship's Papers, including only those bills of lading for goods not restored, and numbered SP 12, SP 62-SP 68, SP 72, SP 76 and SP 77.
