Description

Captured ship: Anna Maria ( master William Noeks or Nocks).

History: a Dutch merchant ship, laden with Spanish Malaga wine and raisins; taken 9/20 May 1745 off Ostend by the privateer Sandwich (Thomas Palgrave commanding), and brought into the River Thames.

  • [CP 1- CP 11]: returns of the sale of the cargo at Lloyds Coffee House, Lombard Street, London on 19 July 1745 over three days, listing lots, purchasers, prices; total raised (£7,565 12s 5d less costs and duty of £2,692 6s 1d); accounts of charges; and the parchment commission of appraisement and sale for the cargo, being in a perishable condition, 18 June 1745.
  • [CP 12]: allegation;
  • [CP 13]: account of freight charges paid to the master.

[Decision: cargo condemned as prize, 18 June 1745, but the ship restored, 4 October 1745]
