from 2016 British Council
The British Council has operated in the Nordic countries since the 1940s. In 1992 in order to redeploy its resources to East and Central Europe the Council decided to reduce its presence in Norway, Finland and Sweden. The Copenhagen office handles policy, finance and administration for all four country operations. Cultural and educational work is managed in each country separately.
