Draft letter from the Poor Law Board, to W E Goodacre [William E Goodacre], Clerk to the Guardians of the Mansfield Poor Law Union, noting that because of receiving numerous applications for relief from able-bodied men unable to find work, the guardians intend applying the Outdoor Relief Test order. The Board ask for a list of those orders which have already been made for outdoor relief, and inform the guardians that Mr Weale [Robert Weale, Poor Law Inspector] will attend the board meeting of the guardians on 10 December 1857 to offer advice and assistance.Annotated: 'I attended the meeting today, 10 December 1857, and arrangements were made for the Outdoor Labour Test order to be applied.' Robert Weale, Poor Law Inspector.
