Erna Maria WESTCOTT, aliases Ines WESTCOTT, Erna Maria UMLAUF, Erna Maria BESUCH. German by birth, WESTCOTT married a Brussels based British businessman in the late 1930s and spent the war years in France, Portugal and UK. She was detained on arrival in UK in 1942 on account of her German origins and sympathies and suspected Intelligence links. Described variously as volcanic, unreliable and uncooperative, doubts about her case were sufficient to ensure her detention in Holloway and the Isle of Man until 1945
