Folios 279-287. Letter from Thomas Day, Clerk to the Guardians of the Bromsgrove Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, about Bellbroughton [Belbroughton] parish, liquidation of debt. He has been asked to forward the following documents: notice of meeting to consent to the liquidation of the debt; copy of resolution consenting to the discharge; certificate showing that the ministers, churchwardens and overseers have conformed with 5& 6 Vic c 18; return with particulars of the debt; statement of account.

Enclosed notice of a meeting of the Bellbroughton rate payers and property owners entitled to vote in person or by proxy (under the provisions of 5 Will 4), to be held in the vestry next to the church on 29 February 1844. The purpose is to consent to the Commission issuing an order directing the overseers to pay, out of the poor rates, the sum of £135 2s 5d, due to the Stourbridge Bank of [Messrs Rufford, illegible and Co], borrowed prior to the Poor Law Amendment Act in order to pay the debts of the parish. Signed by John Bradley and Henry Wheeler Baker, churchwardens, and Samuel Farmer and Joseph Moss, overseers.

Enclosed resolution of a meeting held in Bellbroughton, chaired by H A Woodgate, Minister, consenting to the Commission issuing an order allowing the repayment of the money to Ruffords, being the balance owed from the £250 borrowed under a resolution of 25 March 1834. Woodgate, Charles Noel, Baker, Bradley, [illegible] and Daniel Osborne voted in favour.

Enclosed certificate confirming that the meeting was held, the resolution passed, that proper notice was given, and that true copies of relevant documents are enclosed. Signed by Woodgate, Baker, Bradley, Farmer and Moss.

Enclosed copy of a note dated 23 April 1834, promising to pay Ruffords £250. Signed by G F Blakiston, Bradley, Baker and Noel.

Enclosed statement of account for Bellbroughton in the Halfshire Lower Division, dated 6 March 1844, and signed by Farmer and Moss. It records the debt given by note of the rector and other parishioners and states that part of it was paid off before Bellbroughton was annexed to Bromsgrove.

Enclosed statement of Bellbroughton's account with Rufford and Co.
