Captured ship: Sachem (master James Robinson).
History: an American armed sloop (70 tons, 10 carriage guns and various swivels); bound from Philadelphia on a cruise to St Eustatius, laden with 9 hogsheads of indigo; taken on 6 April 1777 off Cape Henlopen, Delaware in latitude 37°N, longitude 70°W by HMS Perseus (Charles Phipps commanding), and HMS Roebuck (Andrew Snape Hammond commanding), and brought into New York.
