Captured ship: Rifleman (master Major Lyons).
History: a American merchant ship (sloop, 45 tons, 6 men), bound from St Croix to British New Haven, Connecticut, laden with rum, sugar, molasses, rum, salt; taken on 19 November 1778 of British New Haven, in latitude 41°N, longitude 73°W by the privateer Swift (James Hyatt, junr commanding), and brought into New York.
Court papers: 1-8. [These are interim paper numbers, and are likely to change once more fully catalogued].
