Captured ship: Pomona of Dysart (master George Rutherford).
Capture history: a British transport ship (200 tons, 8 guns, 9 men, 2 passengers) bound from Charleston, South Carolina to London, in ballast; having collected and delivered German troops, originally intended for Quebec, to Charleston; taken on 6 May 1781 about 4 leagues off Cape Clear, Ireland by the French privateer Josephine of Le Havre, retaken (when bound for Belle Isle wearing Portuguese colours as a disguise) on 11 May 1781 in latitude 47°N, longitude 9°W by the privateer Charming Nancy (John Kerby commanding), and brought into Jersey.
Intended voyage: from British America to England.
