Captured ship: Pomona (commander John Robertson).
History: an American merchant ship (brig, 100 tons, 8 guns, 14 men, 4 passengers), bound from Amsterdam to Philadelphia, laden with tea, linen, canvas, earthenware, glassware; but originally a French brig laden with tobacco and taken by an English vessel, retaken by an American privateer and brought to Philadelphia, and now retaken on 19 July 1779 about 15 leagues from Fly Land [Vlieland] on the coast of Holland in latitude 53°25'N by HMS Diana (Hon George Falconer commanding), and brought first into the Nore, and then into London.
