Captured ship: Commerce (master David Martindale, prize master Jacques François Boux of Dunkirk).
Capture history: a British ship (1 gun, 2 Englishmen and 6 Frenchmen after first capture) bound from Memel, Russia to Workington, laden with timber and planks; taken on 10 August 1779 about 10 leagues west of Christiansand, Norway by the French privateer La Revanche (Jacques Perre commanding), retaken on 17 August 1779 about 2 miles from Ostend by HMS Rambler (James George commanding), and brought into the Downs.
Intended voyage: from Russia to England.
