Captured ship: Chebeck of Les Sables d'Olonnes (master André Guiné).
Capture history: a French merchant ship (100-130 tons, 8 men and boys, and 1 passenger named as the Chevalier de Verneuil) bound from Charleston, South Carolina to Nantes, laden with rice and indigo; taken on 1 January 1778 in latitude 46°50'N by the privateer Revenge (Noah Gautier commanding), and brought into Jersey.
Intended voyage: from the United States to France.
