Description

Folio Range: [seq 411-445; folios 142-157].

Case Reference: George Heming, 21 September 1646.

Description: [seq 413-414; folio 142-143] Evidence against George Heming (including the sale of muskets to royalists) collected by the City of London committee, 4 May 1643 to 21 September 1646. Signed Henry Linch, clerk to the committee.

[seq 416; folio 143] Petition of George Heming of Worcester, clothier, 29 September 1646, that a date be set for the hearing of his case (money owed to him for cloth by London merchants has been sequestrated).

[seq 418; folio 144] Order, 29 September 1646, to refer the case to Bradshaw. Note by Bradshaw, 5 October 1646.

[seq 420; folio 145] Order, 13 November 1646, setting a date for Heming's hearing.

[seq 422-423; folio 146] Certificate of the Worcestershire committee, 18 February 1647, that they have examined those witnesses in the case who could be found. Signed: Thomas Rolls, Thomas Yonge, William Collins, Edmund Younge.

[seq 425; folio 147] Order, 12 May 1645, from Charles I at Droitwich to the mayor, aldermen and citizens of Worcester, to pay George Heming for cloth supplied to the King's army.

[seq 427; folio 148] Certificate, 4 January 1647, that George Heming, now Sheriff of Worcester, has always lived quietly and did not bear arms against Parliament (although his servants were compelled so to do). Signed by many at Worcester Guildhall.

[seq 429-434; 149-151] Affidavits of Richard Juice, Phillip Davies, Thomas Peircy, Richard Carwardine and Thomas Hackett, all clothiers of Worcester, 22 January to 12 February 1647.

[seq 436; folio 152] Letter, 18 February 1647, to the Worcester committee from Isaac Seward and John Shepherd, acting for the Bailiff of Leominster, stating that the witness Francis Higgins is unknown in that town.

[seq 438; folio 153] Order, 23 February 1647, to give copies of the certificates and depositions to George Heming, and to proceed to a hearing.

[seq 440; folio 154] Petition, 3 March 1647, of George Heming, requesting a hearing soon because he must return to Worcester to attend the judges at the assizes.

[seq 442-444; folio 156-157] Petition, 19 May 1647, that his sequestration be discharged (two copies).
