This series consists of an agreement of the Kidwelly and Llanelly Canal and Tramroad Company.
The Kidwelly and Llanelly Canal and Tramroad Company was incorporated by an act (52 Geo III, cap.clxxiii) passed in 1812 which authorised the construction of a canal or tramroad from Kymer's Canal at Spudders Bridge to a basin at the Old Castle House, Llanelly. The Act also authorised improvements to Kymer's Canal and the construction of other tramroads.
The canal was completed in 1824 and had a length of 9 miles, with 5 locks and 2 incline planes. A branch half a mile long connected the canal to Moat Farm.
Further Acts were passed for various purposes and in an act of 1865, the company's name was changed to the Kidwelly and Burry Port Railway Company which was empowered to discontinue the canal and build various railway lines. In 1866, the new company amalgamated with the Burry Port Railway Company to become the Burry Port and Gwendreath Valley Railway Company. Construction of the railway commenced in 1867.
