In 1874, Gloucester and Berkeley Canal, Sharpness New Docks and Worcester and Birmingham Canal were incorporated as Sharpness New Docks and Gloucester and Birmingham Navigation, which company were also lessees of Droitwich Canal and Droitwich Junction Canal. Name of company was changed to Sharpness Docks and Gloucester and Birmingham Navigation on 6th June 1935, and undertaking passed to British Transport Commission as from 1st January 1948 under Transport Act, 1947.
