Incorporated as "Company of the Proprietors of Leicester Navigation" under act of 13th May 1791 (31 Geo III, cap.65).
By virtue of Grand Union Canal (Leicester Canals Purchase &c) Act, 31st July 1931, Leicester Navigation was purchased by and vested in Grand Union Canal Company, which latter Company was vested in British Transport Commission under Transport Act 1947.
