Description

Folios 294-295: James Nash, HMS Loire, Plymouth Sound. States Major-General James Kempt being charged with dispatches on Government Account from His Excellency Sir George Prevost, Governor in Chief of British North America and having lost his passage in HMS Liffey. He sends you Sir George Prevost's letter to Captain Hancock also one from the Major-General to him wherein he requests a passage in HMS Loire. He request the usual remuneration.

Folios 296-297: enclosure with folios 294-295. Letter dated 22 November 1814 by Major-General James Kempt, off Halifax. States His excellency Sir George Prevost Governor of British North America having sent me to England on important service. He with the accompanying document to Captain Hanworth of HMS Liffey to provide a passage home. He [?] to join that ship in the River St Lawrence but it having sailed previous to his arrival. He requests a passage to England in HMS Loire in which he is embarked, Captain James Nash.

Folios 298-299: enclosure with folios 294-295. Letter dated 8 November 1814 by George Prevost, Head Quarters, Montreal, to Captain Hancock, HMS Liffey. States Magor-General James Kempt having arrived from Upper Cananda, on his way to England upon a particular service, proceeds from hence tomorrow morning, in a Steam Boat in the hope of overtaking the Convoy about to sail from the St Lawrance. He requests they afford him a Passage to England in HMS Liffey.
