Folios 162-163: Thomas New, Regulating Officer, Swansea. Reply to letter dated 26 December 1806 and states the case of Richard Woodland. The said man was as far back as 19 October 1806 impressed by Lieutenant Cartwright Commanding the Eliza Tender and who states that on boarding the Prosper a small sloop he found a man called himself the Owner but who was in fact the Master - another called the Master who was in reality the Mate, and by this means an Able Seaman was attempted to be covered. The above practice has lately been much resorted to by small vessels.
Folios 164-165: enclosure with folios 162-163. Letter dated 24 December 1806 by Thomas Ferguson, No 3 George Yard, Lombard Street, to the Admiralty. Covering letter for the enclosed letter from Mr C Woodland of Watchet addressed to him and an Affidavit made by Thomas Griffith Master of the Sloop Prosper proving Richard Woodland to be bona fide Mate of the said vessel.
Folio 166: enclosure with folios 164-165. Affidavit by Thomas Griffith, Master of the Sloop Prosper that Richard Woolland was impressed by Lieutenant [John] Cartwright. Sworn at Blue Anchor House, Justice of the Peace, September 1806.
Folio 167 enclosure with folios 164-165. Letter dated 7 December 1806 by Cornelius Woodland to Mr Thomas Ferguson. Requests his son and requests his discharge.
