Description

Folios 62-63: Pulteney Malcolm, Harley Street, London. Forwards a ltter by John Goldsmith, late Purser of HMS Polyphemus, who Malcolm has appointed as his secretary and asks that Goldsmith is appointed to a third rate in Ordinary.

Folios 64-65: enclosure with folios 62-63. Letter dated 17 March 1812 by John Goldsmith, late Purser of HMS Polyphemus, to Captain Malcom. Asks whether Goldsmith would apply to the Admiralty on his behalf to be appointed to a third rate in Ordinary, setting out his reasons why.
