Folios 198-199: Thomas Larcom, HMS Diomede. Advises that Lieutenant Crawford was absent because he had been away from England some years and went to London to settle some urgent family affairs and then he fell ill. Likewise Lieutenant Mitchell's reasons are similar and he is at the hospital. Advises that he is happy to resign the Captaincy of HMS Diomede to Sir James Saumarez's Captain. Advises that he knew nothing of the smuggling of tobacco and he hopes that the pending Court Martials of Lieutenants Crawford and Mitchell will show he had done his duty like an Officer and a gentleman.
