Folios 294-295: William Hugh Kittoe, Southampton. Encloses for Admiralty inspection a Protection claimed as the property of a seaman impressed last evening on the high road on way to Bristol with no protection on him. At the Rendezvous called himself an American and said had left his Protection in the till of the Mate's chest on the vessel from which he had been landed. Lieutenant Robins went on the vessel this morning and the Master, Mate and crew unanimously declared they only knew the impressed man as James Davis. James Willett, alias Davis told the Lieutenant he had signed his name in the enclosed Protection, but there is no signature. Has directed that he be forwarded to the fleet tomorrow morning and hopes this action will be approved.
Folio 296: enclosure with folios 294-295. Protection issued by Joseph Whipple, Collector of the District of Portsmouth, State of New-Hampshire dated 16 May 1806. Protection states that James Willett, an American Seaman who was born in Massachusetts, is a citizen of the United States of America.
Folio 297: enclosure with folios 294-295. Piece of paper with following information. Newburyport, 40 miles from Boston. [?] Street, Merrimack River. Mrs [?] Stewart, Water Street, Newburyport.
