Description

Folios 323-324: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Replying to the letter of 1 March. Robert Blevin, born in Wrexham, was pressed on 14 February by Lieutenant Evans. He said he was a labourer employed by the Corporation but nobody appeared to claim him. He did not say that he was engaged in the Local Militia, and had every appearance of a seafaring man. Thomas Burns, born in Liverpool, was pressed by Lieutenant Evans on 14 February as an Ordinary Seaman. The indenture produced to claim him was dated 12 February 1806, by which it appears he has been more than 3 years at sea. he returns the enclosures. He also sends the weekly return of men raised at Liverpool [not present].

Folios 325-326: enclosure with folios 323-324. Letter dated 28 February 1809 from C W William Wynn, Colonel, E R D L M, 1 James's Square, to The Admiralty. He has just received information that Robert Blethyn, a Private in the Eastern Regiment of the Royal Denbigh Militia, has been pressed at Liverpool. Requests his immediate discharge.

Folios 327-328: enclosure with folios 323-324. Letter dated 26 February 1809 from Tomkinson, West Side of Kings Dock, Liverpool to Charles Watkin Williams Wynn, Great George Street, Westminster, London. Informs that Robery Blethyn, a Private in the Wrexham Local Militia, was pressed at Liverpool and is on board the guard ship. Requests a letter to The Admiralty for his discharge.

Folio 329: enclosure with folios 323-324. Notes written by Major Richard Lloyd dated 21 February 1809 from Wrexham concerning the local militia.

Folios 330-331: enclosure with folios 323-324. letter dated 27 February 1809 from John McDonald, 39 Hurst Street, Liverpool, to the Commissioners of the Navy. Request for the discharge of his son, Thomas Burns, who was bound as an apprentice to Samuel Hinde, Merchant, of Liverpool, on 12 February 1806 for 5 years. He was pressed on 14 February. He sends the indenture [not present] to show that he is a lawful apprentice
