Folios 273-275: Thomas Hand, HMS Tartarus, Guernsey Roads. The 2nd Argyleshire and the Bannfshire Fencibles are embarked on the Hibberts, Centurion, Harmony, Mary and the George and Dorothy transports in St Aubins Bay at Jersey on 13 [December 1799]. He sailed with them at daylight on 14 [December 1799] and arrived with them and HMS Otter the same evening. The wind prevents him from proceeding to Spithead but this will enable him to give protection to 3 other transports with the Wallace Fencibles who are partly embarked. He proposes detaching HMS Piercer with Lieutenant Menzies to convoy them to the Downs or Nore keeping HMS Otter to accompany him to Spithead.
