Folios 122-124: Henry Richard Glynn, Regulating Captain, Poole. Reports that John Prowse was impressed on 20 [November 1808] on board the Dispatch brig. He is 45 years old, has been at sea 30 years and is an Able Seaman. He was Master of the Alfred brig which was lost at Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, last September.
Folios 124-126: Enclosure with folios 122-124: Letter dated 20 November 1808 from George Neave & Co, Poole, to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty. Their brig the Dispatch, master James Pike, has just arrived from Newfoundland. Captain John Prowse came as a passenger. He was the Master of their brig the Alfred which was recently cast away on the coast of Newfoundland. He has a wife and 5 children and they intend employing him again as a Master. he was impressed and when they applied to Captain Glynn he says he is not authorised to release him without directions from the Admiralty.
