Folios 94-95: Henry Richard Glynn, Regulating Captain, Poole Rendezvous. Reports that John Bridges, aged 19, was impressed by Lieutenant Robert Ellary on 12 August. His indentures show that he has been at sea for between three and four years. In his letter of 13 August he reported the impressment out of the Rose in June, bound for Colchester, and enclosed Bridges' indentures.
Folios 96-97: enclosed with folios 94-95. Letter from Messrs Batchellor & Potts, Serjeants Inn, Fleet Street, to the Admiralty. They write on behalf of the Master of the fishing smack Rose in June of Colchester about the impressment of John Bridges, who is apprenticed to the Master and whose discharge they ask for.
Folios 98-99: enclosed with folios 94-95. Petition from Joseph Woodward of Wivenhoe, Essex, Master of the Rose in June of Colchester, to the Admiralty. Reports that John Bridges of Great Holland, Essex, then aged 15, was apprenticed to him as a fisherman in March 1804 and that in April of this year he secured an Admiralty protection for Bridges. On 12 August Bridges was impressed from on board the ship in Poole by a Lieutenant acting under the orders of Regulating Captain Henry Richard Glynn and was the next day sent aboard the receiving ship HMS Royal William. Asks for his discharge.
Folios 100-101: enclosed with folios 94-95. Deposition from Joseph Woodward of Wivenhoe, Essex, Master of the fishing smack Rose in June of Colchester, taken by David Sutton, Wivenhoe, 22 August 1807. Swears that John Bridges of Great Holland, Essex, was apprenticed to him in March 1804 and that in April of this year he obtained, through his fish salesman at Billingsgate, James Walker, a protection for Bridges signed by the Admiralty. On 12 August in Poole, Bridges was impressed by a Lieutenant acting under the orders of Regulating Captain Henry Richard Glynn, even though Mr Woodward produced his articles of indenture and his protection. He thought Captain Glynn intended to surrender Bridges, but instead he was sent aboard the receiving ship HMS Royal William.
