Description

Folios 246-247: Thomas Le Marchant Gosselin, HMS Audacious, Cawsand Bay. Reporting major damage to his ship after a severe gale. Encloses a log of the ship which indicates the defects which must be made good if the ship is to be of any use. Also encloses a copy of a memorandum received from Captain Atkins of HMS Seine which has given an account of the enemy's squadron seen by an American vessel.

Folios 248-249: enclosure with folios 246-247. Information about HMS Seine, the American brig Carolina and the American schooner Amanda.

Folios 250-251: enclosure with folios 246-247. Letter dated 13 August 1806, from Sir Richard John Strachan on board HMS Caesar off Barbados, sailing towards Cheasapeak [Chesapeake], hoping to find the Enemy or intelligence of them.

Folios 252-253: enclosure with folios 246-247. Log of the proceedings of HMS Audacious on 18 and 19 August 1806. In Bermuda. Weather details given.
