Description

Folios 268-269: William Cunningham Cavendish Dalyell: 13 Great George Street. He reports that the reply given in 1805 to his application for a pension, founded on the enclosed survey held before himwas a verbal one delivered by Secretary Marsden to his agent, the late Thomas maude who sid that ' Lieutenant Dalyell must be surveyed by the Board of Surgeons in this country'. The application was received in 1811 by his late Captain Mason when a reply was given by letter to the same effect. A copy is stuck in his luggage in Scotland. He refers to a similare situation concerning Lieutenant Abel Thomas who is still a prisoner in Franc whose agent Msrs Peyton & Granfell haveapplied on his behalf.

Folio 270: enclosure with folios 268-269. Letter signed by Captain Edward Leveson Gower, late HMS Shannon, Captain Jahleel Brenton, late HMS Minerve, A Allen, D M Surgeon late HMS Minerve, John Bell, surgeon, late HMS Shannon and James Graham, surgeon, late HMS Hussar dated 20 July 1805. Detailing the wounds received by Lieutenant W C C Dalyell, late HMS Rattler. In addition to the above wounds A Allen, 15 November 1810, surgeon to the British prisoners of war at Verdun, decribes further injuries. The above certified by Captain Thomas Lavie, late HMS Blanch, Senior Naval Officer at Verdun, 16 November 1810.
