Description

Folios 355-356: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Reply to letter dated 2 July 1810. States (1) William Quarterman was impressed by Lieutenant Potter on 19 June 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 22, born Charlston. He came here in the Fanny from New York, he had no protection, nor was any document produced to claim him. (2) John Corson was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 12 June as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 24, born in Boston, He had a protection dated 1807 which he said he received in 1801. A woman who said her maiden name was Mary Burke claimed him as her husband and said they had just come from Ireland in a packet. (3) William Taylor was impressed by Lieutenant Potter on 18 June 1810 as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 18 born at St. Andrews. The enclosed Indenture was produced dated 2 February 1807 by which it appeared he had served more that three years. (4) William Davies was impressed by Lieutenant Evans on 28 June as an Ordinary [Seaman], aged 18, born in Liverpool. The enclosed Indenture dated 19 November 1806 was produced and it appears ha had served more that three years at sea.

Folios 357-358: enclosure with folios 355-356. Letter dated 2 July 1810 by J Freshwater, 14 Sise Lane, London. Covering letter for the enclosed [not included] Indenture of William Taylor apprenticed to Messrs Bell & Balfour, Dundee.

Folios 359-360: enclosure with folios 355-356. Letter dated 1 July 1810 by Joseph Campbell, Master of the Rigley, Liverpool. Covering letter for the enclosed [not included] Indenture of William Davies.
