Description

Folios 620-621: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Response to a request to state the cases of two impressed men. Samuel Williams, aged 19, was impressed by Lieutenant James Hamilton Clarke on 26 February 1810. He acknowledged he'd been at sea twelve months before he was bound. Nicholas Murphy, also aged 19, was impressed by Lieutenant Potter on 23 February 1810. An indenture was produced dated 14 August 1806 with the word six overwritten with seven.

Folios 622-623: enclosure with folios 620-621. Denis Kenselas, Master of the Michael, Liverpool to the Admiralty, 3 March 1810. Request for the discharge of Nicholas Murphy, his Apprentice, who was impressed on 25 February 1810. Offers a substitute in his place.

Folios 624-625: enclosure with folios 620-621. Thomas Williams, 19 Free Mason Row, Liverpool to Admiralty, 2 March 1810. Reports that Samuel Williams is a lawful Apprentice to John Bartlet and provides an Indenture as evidence [item not included]. States that Samuel was on board the ship Elizabeth, which belonged to John Bartlet of Teignmouth and was taken on shore on business for this ship by the Press Gang and is now on board HMS Princess. Requests his discharge.
